Jeremiah 10:23
Lord, I know that people’s lives are not their own; it is not for them to direct their steps.
Jeremiah understood that people are not masters of their own lives. Apostle Paul in the New Testament resound the prayer of the prophet Jeremiah in 1 Corinthians 6:19 reminding the believers that their bodies do not belong to themselves but God. The sole reason that we do not own ourselves points to the fact that God has purchased us with the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ. The price was paid in full measure.
The capacity to reason and make sensible decisions is given to men by God but without God’s guidance, decisions are bound to fail. Many tears, mistakes and heartache could have been avoided if we had listened to God’s voice. That’s why constancy in prayers is very vital to walking in the steps of God’s guidance. Many plans human may make but God’s purposes prevails (Proverbs 19:21).
Prayer: Guide my steps every single moment. Take control over my life and every decision of my life, amen.
