Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 3 begins with a command in each verse followed by a promise. Here are the listed commands in verse 5: Trust in the LORD with all your heart (not on money, man, military power, own righteousness or false idols), and lean not on your own understanding (not on what you sense to be right and wrong or your ability and discernment); in all your ways submit to him or acknowledge him (literally, “to have an intimate experiential knowledge of Him” (from Vine’s Expository Dictionary of the Old Testament)). In fulfilling all these requirements, he will make your paths straight. In other words, when we begin to have an experiential knowledge of God, trusting Him totally in every situation of our life and letting go of our own self-sufficient resources, then God will direct our paths into the ways of righteousness and holiness.

There are tons of limitations to human discernment as to choose what is right and wrong. From the dawn to the dusk of the day, we make decisions based on our perception and understanding but God tells us to let him know of all our ways, then he will direct us in the right path. None of the assignment will go in vain if we acknowledge Him in our every daily schedule of life. From the mega to the nitty-gritty choices we make, God wants us to rely on Him completely because He knows what’s best for us.

Prayer: Lord, I trust you with all my heart and lean not on my own understanding. I submit my ways and my plans to you. Direct me according to your will and purpose, Amen.
