I say to the LORD, “You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.”

We are in the right path when we realize that all the goodness and righteousness is not a merit of our own but of God alone. We have nothing but vice and sin. The greatest consciousness of one’s own condition is the first step to see who God really is. The Psalmist understood rightly that there is nothing that he could take credit for the good he sees in himself. All the virtues and moral rightness is only found in God. The rejection of God is snuffing out every bit of moral goodness and love. And, in having more of Him the goodness of God is displayed more gloriously.

Prayer: Lord, Help me see the wretchedness of my own condition and seek you who alone can impute goodness and holiness in me, Amen.
