Psalm 2:8
Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.

This is God calling forth his people to ask of him for the nations and peoples’ groups. God is truly concerned about the people and not of wealth or riches. If we would only ask, God is ever ready to bring about the desired fulfilment. For God, human is the most valuable thing. He chose us over anything else He had. God, therefore, exhorts us to ask of him so that what he values to be the most treasured possession, he would give that to us. There is this idea of man calling upon God for the global salvation of every race, ethnic groups, tongues and cultures. And as we ask of him, the heavenly reward will be great in that God’s possession and inheritance become ours.

One reason God calls us to “only ask,” is that provisionally Satan has some power over the earth. He can shroud and blind people from seeing the true light of God’s power (2 Corinthians 4:4); so this verse of prayer is for the liberation and freedom of people from Satan’s bondage. We act as Christ’s agent in bringing about God’s power and dominion in the realm of darkness and evil world. It is the act of claiming nations, cities and towns for Christ and His renown.

Prayer: Lord, may the Glory of the Lord shine upon the nations and the ends of the earth be filled with your knowledge and power, amen.
