Psalm 51:15
Open my lips, Lord, and my mouth will declare your praise.

Have you ever been in a place of deep distress and pain that you don’t have a word to utter before God? The psalmist too experienced deep sorrow over his sinful action. He displeased the Lord as he confessed his sins before Him. The sin was exposed and the psalmist had to acknowledge his failure in contrition and repentance.

In the midst of such a disposition, David prays to God to open his lips so that he could declare the praises of Him. David knew that God was the only person he could run to. David also had the faith that God can open his lips in praise even though he felt it unnatural at this point. Praises was difficult at this moment as he experienced the bitter judgement of God but he, out of deep devotion to God sought to release the praises that is due unto God.  It was this humble heart that made God to have mercy upon this frail human from being destroyed by hurts and failures.

Prayer: Open my lips, Lord, and my mouth will declare your praise, Amen.
