No 1: Jesus hates sin but loves sinner.
In fact, the Bible tells that “God is angry with sinners all day” (Psalm 7:11)
No. 2: God helps those who help themselves.
The implications can be argued but truth be told, this quotation is not grounded in the Bible (Ephesians 2:4-5).
No. 3: Do not judge! (as a general rule to almost everything)
Many misapply Jesus’ sermon on the Mount in Matthew 7:1 to argue and defend themselves. But the context of this verse refers to the hypocritical form of judgment (Matthew 7:5). Jesus tells us in John 7:24, “Judge rightly…”
No. 4: All religions are same!
This is a serious misconception that “all roads lead to Rome.” In fact, the Bible is clear to state that there is only one God (Isaiah 46:9) and there is only one name that saves (Acts 4:12). Jesus is the only way to Heaven (John 14:6).
No. 5: The Old Testament God is a God of wrath while the New Testament God, a God of love.
The Same God who judges human in Garden Eden is the very same God who judged His one and only Son on the Cross of Calvary (Genesis 3:19; Mark 15:34)
No. 6: If you do good, you’ll go to heaven!
Nowhere in the Bible do we find such a statement! It’s by His grace alone through faith in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:8, 9) that we are saved from God's wrath and judgment.
No. 7: Doctrines are not important but love.
Read 1 Timothy chapter 1; 4:16
No. 8: I have a pure heart because I do not hide anything.
I’ve heard many Christians slander and backbite others and justify themselves with this particular line “I’m not like other who store things on their mind, I speak it out.” Read Matthew 12:34, 35.
No. 9: Tithing/Giving is a command (Controversial point)
Tithing was a command for the Jewish people (Malachi 3:10), but not for the new covenant believers. Read Matthew 23:23 and 2 Corinthians 9:6-8.
No. 10: Christianity is not a religion but a relationship (Controversial point).
Of course, Christians are called to have personal relationship with Christ (John 14:23). But technically speaking, Christianity itself is a religion. Read James 1:26-27.
