18 You know that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without defect or blemish. 1 Peter 1:18-19
God is not only interested in saving us from the clutches of hell but also from the empty ways of our past pagan superstitions and immoral behavior of our ancestors. When Christ bought us with his precious blood, he purchased us fully from the ways of darkness into his marvelous light. It is not a partial redemption but a full and complete purchase of us so that we can become a total brand new being in Christ Jesus.
The price was paid fully to God. It was the divine satisfaction of his holy character and nature. It was a perfect sacrifice made by Jesus Christ as that of a lamb without spot or blemish. The lamb was provided by God Himself to save the lost and broken world. That precious sacrifice made by Christ Jesus was to release us from the bondage of sins and every single entanglement of worldly and meaningless practices of the past ancestors.
