4 and into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 5 who are being protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 1 Peter 1:4-5
God promises those who receives this ‘new birth’ an inheritance that is kept in heaven for us. The writer does not specify what the inheritance is but describes it as ‘imperishable, undefiled and unfading.’ In short, the reward will be great and eternally ours to inherit.
Verse 5 reminds us that the new-born believers are protected by God’s power through faith until the salvation is fully revealed in the last time. It is the power of God that keeps the believers from losing their hope in Christ. The complete package of salvation is purchased for us on the Cross. But to receive that full reward of inheritance in God’s presence, the believers have to continue to live in the new life through faith in Christ Jesus.
