1 Peter 2:16
16 Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God’s slaves.
There is liberty in Christ. But that liberty does not permit us to freely indulge in sinful ways of this world. The liberty springs from the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Now, the freedom that sets us free from the bondage of sins calls us to become a slave of God. There are three possible masters that dominates us: God (righteousness), Satan (demonic forces) or self (Sins). There is no middle ground allegiance.
There is true freedom of the soul in surrendering ourselves to God. There is no hidden spot in the presence of God (Hebrews 4:13). We do not serve God with a slavish fear (punishment and wrath) but out of joy and reverence (out of thanksgiving and love). God does not mistreat or betray us as a Master. He will reward us for our faithful works (Matthew 25:21). In becoming a slave of God, we promise to serve Christ faithfully until He comes back (Luke 12:43).
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we want to be faithful servants. We want to uphold your holy name in all our doings. Be glorified, be magnified,
In Christ name, Amen.
