This verse reveals the determined disposition of the psalmist to praise God every day. If a day has gone by and praises is absent on our lips, then it is very probable that the day will be spent in trivial murmurings and meddling talks.  We praise Him in faith and not based on our feelings. Feelings are momentary but faith looks beyond the ordinary earthly circumstances. It taps into God’s power and strength. In praising Him, we lose our hopelessness, hate, anger, bitterness and vices but gain hope, love, patience and purity of hearts.

The name of God is a strong tower and a refuge. His name has the power to save, heal, restore and deliver. His name is stronger than all sins. No other name shall humans praise but the name of God. Idolatry is born when we fail to extol and cherish his name. In giving Him the glory, we acknowledge his supreme worth and glory. It is no wonder that God’s name will be praised for ever and ever because He is God.

Prayer: Every day I will praise you and extol your name forever and ever, Amen.
