On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night.

As he lay down to rest, David remembers God. He’s not anxious about his tomorrow nor fears the terror of night. The attention is completely fixed on the person of God. His affections and desire is on God alone.

Through the sleepless nights, David takes this opportunity to think about the goodness and greatness of God. He expresses his longing for more of God’s presence and power. This activity of ruminating God’s word and work in the hours of the night gave him immense energy to face the tough and rough battles of the day.

How important it is to know that thinking about God Himself is a tremendous blessing! How many times have we wasted our thinking on useless craps and junks which gives us nothing but pain, anxiety, sorrow and turmoil. In “thinking” about the Divine being, we are injected with the power of His Spirit to live our daily lives with the supernatural intuition of overcoming temptations, greed, anger, bitterness, pride and the evil influences of the dark forces surrounding us.

Prayer: Lord, as I lay myself to rest, help me know that you are the one who gives the ultimate rest to a weary soul. Help me to think more of you and less of myself. In Yeshua’s Name, Amen.
